Amgen appoints Gabi Mittas to top leadership role

Pharma News: Gabi Mittas will soon be at the top leadership seat as General Manager of Amgen Australia and New Zealand, taking the reigns from Shannon Sullivan who left the company recently to move to an international role.

Ms Mittas has spent more than 20 years at Eli Lilly. She has extensive experience in sales, marketing, and commercial roles and has led marketing teams in Australia, the UK, the US, and globally. She was the Senior Director in Global Marketing Oncology before taking the lead as Chief Marketing Officer for Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia Pacific Region in May 2021.

Gabi began her career at Lilly Australia and demonstrated her deep marketing expertise in leadership roles across several therapeutic areas and affiliates. In her most recent international role, she led Lilly’s global marketing strategy for Cyramza (ramucirumab), an antineoplastic drug used to treat advanced gastro-intestinal cancers, lung cancers, liver cancer and colorectal cancer, along with a PD-1 inhibitor.

She was excited to return home in 2021 after 14 years, to Lilly Australia & New Zealand to where her journey with Lilly started.

Throughout the years, Gabi committed to Lilly’s diversity & inclusion programs and has been known as a strong talent developer.

In a recent interview she described her philosophy on leadership. She said “The key thing is the passion to make the world better, through authentic connection, inspirational work, but also while enjoying life… don’t compromise the outcome but have fun along the way!”

Ms Mittas will take up the baton from Ms Sullivan who was appointed Vice President & Managing Director, Amgen Australia and New Zealand back in July 2020.
