Sanofi appoints new Country Lead and Head of Pharma ANZ

Health Industry Hub | May 10, 2024 |

Leadership & Management: Sanofi has announced the appointment of Liz Selby as the Country Lead and Head of Pharma for Sanofi Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) in an acting capacity. With over a decade of experience at Sanofi, Liz most recently served as the General Manager of the Specialty Care business.

This follows on the heels of Karen Hood‘s decision to step down from her Country Lead role, in addition to Rebekah Cassidy, Sanofi’s Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability for ANZ, taking on the role as CEO of AusBiotech.

In her new role, Liz will assume overall leadership of the newly combined Pharma business unit, overseeing portfolios including Immunology, Diabetes, Rare Disease, Rare Blood Disorders, and Virtual Healthcare, as well as Sanofi’s local operations such as Trade, Market Access, and Corporate Affairs, effective immediately.

Liz steps into this pivotal role as Sanofi enters the next phase of its Play to Win strategy, emphasising transformative medicine and vaccine launches, accelerated R&D investment, and the aspiration to become the first pharmaceutical company powered by AI at scale.

Commenting on her appointment, Liz remarked, “Since working on the front line of public health I have wanted to make a greater impact across all areas of the ecosystem and to improve people’s lives. At Sanofi I am. We all are. And I am incredibly proud to now lead the team chasing the miracles of science and improving people’s lives down under.”

She continued, “The next chapter of Sanofi’s Play to Win Strategy will challenge us to take steps that optimise the way we work, accelerate innovation and deepen our investment in R&D supporting our direction toward becoming a company powered by AI. The team in Australia & New Zealand never settles and we’re ready to keep delivering.”

Liz brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to health across Australia and New Zealand, beginning her career as a frontline health worker. As an accomplished business leader, Liz attributes her success to her strong sense of purpose, ongoing development, and seizing opportunities, which she endeavours to instil in others.

With a passion for fostering better health outcomes through enhanced access, innovation, investment, and sustainable commercial operations, Liz has demonstrated a proven track record spanning primary and secondary healthcare, biotechnology, and the pharmaceutical industries.

In addition to her new role, Liz is committed as an Ally and Sponsor of Sanofi’s Pride+ community, and she will soon assume the role of Sponsor of the Gender+ community.
