Last year employees were looking for meaning. This year they will be acting on it.

Happy New Year from us at Health Industry Hub!

Looking back over the past three years, no word could be more appropriate than “CHANGE.”

“Can I change?” was the search query that topped Google’s 2022 annual year in search, highlighting the most commonly typed search query of the year. From changing careers to seeking new outlooks on life that more accurately reflect individual values, people are finding ways to reimagine themselves and reshape the world around them.

According to best-selling author Daniel Goleman, if we were going to title the past year based on Google’s top search term, then we would call it “A Year in Search of Purpose.”

Given how much stress the COVID-19 pandemic has brought on – in addition to the climate crisis, heightened violence, and reckonings with inequity – it’s no wonder so many people are looking for inspiration and meaning as the antidote.

We are witnessing the pursuit of purpose and happiness on a scale never seen before. People are looking for ways to bring about meaningful change personally and professionally.

Meaningful work connects us with our values, piques our interest, and engages our moral compass. For many employees, it describes a job where they feel fulfilled and valuable – where their day-to-day efforts are both appreciated and connected to something that transcends their personal interests.

When it comes to living more purposeful lives, the path isn’t always linear. Meaning flows from a variety of places, practices, and interconnections. To one person, purpose might look like solving a global challenge. To another, it might mean carving out more time to be with loved ones.

As we see more and more people in our networks facilitating and implementing meaningful change personally and professionally in 2023, we may want to ask ourselves:

What do I want to change: in myself, my relationships, my workplace, my community, and the world?

What does meaningful work look like for me and what do I need to change to feel more fulfilled and valued?

What could I shift in order to feel like my time and contribution truly matter?

At Health Industry Hub, we remain committed to empowering and inspiring your career journey by connecting you to breaking Pharma, MedTech and Biotech news and the most relevant insights from industry leaders and influencers to maximise your success and support you in creating that meaningful change.
