ARCS to put patients at the centre of healthcare

Close to 1200 professionals from the healthcare sector will gather in Sydney 6-8 August to attend the three-day ARCS 2019 annual conference on Putting patients at the centre of healthcare. This is the largest conference on regulation, reimbursement, clinical research and utilisation of new medical technologies and therapeutics in Australia/New Zealand. Delegates will come from a cross section of the healthcare sector and industry and will include senior executives through to recent graduates.

The program is looking to explore the topic of putting patients at the centre of healthcare from a variety of viewpoints and in a range of settings, from clinical research, to drug development to regulatory and reimbursement processes.

ARCS has supported a number of patients through scholarships to enable them to attend the conference and include their perspectives to the conference theme.

International keynote speaker Aashima Gupta is the Director, Global Healthcare Solutions at Google Cloud based in the US. She is responsible for healthcare strategy and solutions, and is tasked with accelerating digital transformation in the healthcare industry through the use of Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, APIs and mobile solutions.

International keynote speaker Dr Jen Horonjeff is the Founder and CEO of Savvy Cooperative, the first patient-owned public benefit co-op that helps companies and innovators connect directly with patients/consumers in order to get the insights they need to build better healthcare solutions. Jen is deeply committed to human-centred design in healthcare, and has firsthand knowledge as both a patient and professional. She has championed patient engagement in research and industry on numerous projects and committees around the globe. She strives to give patients a platform to have their voices and expertise be heard, valued and included–because the future of healthcare is codesigned with patients.

“This year for the first time ARCS has been offering satellite sessions and additional content delivered in the Education Dome. The Education Dome is part of the exhibition hall and provides a more relaxed way to listen to educational presentations,” concluded Dr Dyer.

For over 35 years, ARCS Australia has been bringing together a vibrant and diverse community of professionals working within academia, government, biopharmaceutical and medtech companies, hospitals and healthcare, and independent organisations to showcase and support research and development of medical technologies and therapeutics.
