Lundbeck appoints new Managing Director in ANZ

Health Industry Hub | November 8, 2024 |

Leadership & Management: Lundbeck has named Cara Dignum as the new Managing Director for Lundbeck Australia and New Zealand, succeeding Fredrik Kjaer.

Kjaer, who led the company in Australia for four years, has returned to Lundbeck’s headquarters to take on the role of Vice President of Commercial Planning and Evaluation for the Emerging Markets & Southeast Europe region.

Dignum brings over a decade of experience with Lundbeck, having joined the company in 2012. She spent seven years in Lundbeck’s Copenhagen headquarters, where she held various roles focused on leading product and project strategies for mental illness and migraine treatments. Returning to Australia in 2021, she took on the role of National Marketing Director and, most recently, served as Commercial Director since 2022.

Lorena Di Carlo, Senior Vice President for the APAC and Brazil region, expressed her confidence in Dignum’s appointment, saying, “I am delighted that we have been able to select a high calibre candidate from within Lundbeck to take over the leadership role in Australia.

“Cara has an outstanding record with proven ability to lead teams and deliver commercial excellence. Her energy and drive will be an asset as we execute our new global strategy of becoming Focused Innovators, advancing brain health and transforming patient lives.”

Dignum shared her enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “I’m proud and excited to lead the organisation at this important time as we work to provide innovation in healthcare, advance brain health and improve the lives of Australian and New Zealand patients. I’m looking forward to working with a talented and passionate team to drive patient outcomes and deliver growth and success for the business.”

This appointment follows Lundbeck’s recent recognition in the 2024 Best Workplaces list by Great Place to Work ANZ. Reflecting on this achievement, Dignum commented, “Lundbeck has embarked on a challenging journey to evolve our way of working: to build on our good culture and enhance it further. This recognition is significant and timely as we prepare to realise our new global mission to advance brain health and transform lives.”
