Medtronic and AbbVie claim top spot in Great Place To Work ANZ awards
People & Culture: Great Place To Work ANZ has unveiled its 2024 list of the Best Workplaces, marking a significant recognition of excellence across the healthcare sector.
Rebecca Moulynox, General Manager of Great Place To Work Australia, highlighted the importance of spotlighting industry-specific achievements.
“We understand that different industries face unique challenges and opportunities,” she said. “To celebrate organisations making significant strides within their sectors, we’ve introduced new industry-specific lists in 2024, including Best Workplaces in Healthcare & Social Assistance and Best Workplaces in Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals.”
In the Healthcare & Social Assistance sector, Medtronic Australasia claimed the top spot as the only medtech company. Meanwhile, in the Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical sector, AbbVie took the number one spot, followed closely by Sandoz, Glaukos, Lundbeck Australia, and Servier Australia.
Liz Carnabuci, VP, Enterprise Accounts & Services, Japan and ANZ and VP, Diabetes APAC and Greater China at Medtronic told Health Industry Hub, “We believe that our strength comes from the diversity of our people. By listening to different perspectives and experiences, we create better solutions and a more innovative workplace.
“We’ve built a strong foundation, and it’s prepared us to act on the bold challenge in front of us: To remove barriers to equity across our workplace, industry, and communities we serve.”
Commenting on the accolade, Nic Hennessy, Director of People & Organisation Sandoz Australia and New Zealand, said “I’m incredibly proud to be ranked within the top two workplaces in our sector, and all that Sandoz has achieved as an independent organisation in the realms of culture, diversity, equity and inclusion.”
He praised the dedication of the Sandoz team, noting that 97% of associates rated Sandoz as a Great Place to Work in 2024.
“Our business is characterised by our values-driven culture, and it is pleasing to see the strong sense of connection, belonging, and fulfilment that our people feel each day when they show up to work,” he added. “The workplace culture we’ve created is what sets our business apart, as we continue to drive innovation through our work to provide high-quality healthcare solutions for all.”
Cara Dignum, Acting Managing Director of Lundbeck Australia, expressed pride in their achievement.
“We’re delighted with this achievement which ranks top performing work cultures in our sector. It reinforces the fact that Lundbeck Australia has a strong, healthy, and inclusive culture, and a workplace that is recognised across our industry,” she said.
Dignum also emphasised the importance of the accolade as Lundbeck embarks on a new global mission.
“Lundbeck has embarked on a challenging journey to evolve our way of working: to build on our good culture and enhance it further. This recognition is significant and timely as we prepare to realise our new global mission to advance brain health and transform lives,” she added.
Rebecca Mathieson, Director of People and Communications at Lundbeck Australia, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the efforts made to foster employee growth and collaboration.
“This is welcome news for our people and the work we have been doing to empower Lundbeck’s employees to grow within themselves and in their roles,” she said. “A key part of this has been encouraging openness and trust with each other, which helps people to feel comfortable to speak up, and share feedback and ideas to drive innovation and success.”
Reflecting on the broader significance of these rankings, Moulynox noted, “These lists provide a fantastic opportunity to spotlight companies that excel in creating a positive workplace culture within their industry. It’s a chance to honour those who are dedicated to enhancing employee experiences, fostering inclusivity, and driving progress in their fields.”
She concluded by emphasising the inspiration that such recognition brings to other organisations, encouraging them to elevate workplace standards across Australia.
