Biotech News: Biogen Australia has become certified as a 2021 Great Place to Work by demonstrating that the challenges posed by the pandemic and remote working have not impacted the company’s “vibrant and resilient culture”.

Biogen’s Great Place to Work recognition comes upon their first application for the certification despite the challenges of the past year, speaking to the affiliate’s ability to retain its culture throughout the transition to remote working in early 2020 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, whilst also navigating the re-location to its new Banfield Road premises.

Kylie Bromley, Managing Director of Biogen ANZ, stated “We strive to create an environment that empowers our employees to bring their passion and most authentic selves to their work. Our certification as a Great Place to Work speaks to the vibrant culture at Biogen Australia, one that is shaped by the energy and enthusiasm of our people. We have worked diligently to ensure our organisation emboldens our people to work fearlessly to change the lives of our patients.”

Fabienne Connet, Head of Human Resources for Biogen ANZ, said “Our people are our greatest asset, and I am incredibly proud of the uniquely collaborative culture we have created that enables us to do the work we do to change lives every day.

“Our values of diversity, inclusion and flexibility serve as a foundation for the way we work, and it is evident in the laughter and warmth that fill our work environments that our people genuinely want to connect and collaborate with each other.

“We encourage our employees to thrive through both professional development opportunities and wellbeing initiatives, whilst empowering them to find their balance of work-life integration; together, we do some serious work, yet we don’t take ourselves too seriously.”

To determine the Great Place to Work certification, employees were surveyed on cultural factors including credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie at Biogen Australia and information was gathered about programs and practices unique to the affiliate that make it an exceptional
place to work.

One Biogen employee commented “I feel proud to work for an organisation that is Great Place to Work-Certified as it speaks to our commitment as employees to continuously build our culture at Biogen Australia.

“We trust each other to be accountable and take the time to recognise efforts and celebrate success – it is this supportive environment that allows us to work fearlessly to make a difference to the lives of our patients.

“Most importantly, we make sure we have a bit of fun along the way, which really makes Biogen Australia a great place to work.”

Biogen Australia joins Biogen affiliates in Canada, Poland and the UK in being recognised as a Great Place to Work in 2021.
