Johnson & Johnson integrates ANZ operations in future-ready Macquarie Park headquarters

Johnson & Johnson has officially opened its new headquarters at MPark, a purpose-built hub for innovation, life sciences and technology in Macquarie Park, Sydney. The move marks a significant milestone for the company’s operations across Australia and New Zealand as it unites Johnson & Johnson’s Innovative Medicine, MedTech and Vision businesses under one roof.

Jerome Laxale MP, Member for Bennelong, recently emphasised the strategic importance of the location. Macquarie Park, he noted, is the second largest economy in NSW and the eighth largest in Australia. This is supported by a substantial annual economic output, which surpasses $13.6 billion.

Joana De Castro, Managing Director of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine ANZ, said the relocation signals a new era for the organisation.

“Our new Australian headquarters has been designed to accelerate the way we collaborate and innovate – always with our customers and patients at the centre of everything we do. The space will bring our teams together in an agile environment that enables faster connection of science and technology – ultimately helping deliver better health outcomes for patients across Australia and New Zealand,” De Castro said.

Sarah Najdek, Managing Director of Johnson & Johnson MedTech ANZ, said the new facility embodies the company’s vision to reimagine how healthcare is delivered.

“Our new headquarters is more than a new workplace – it is a purpose-built innovation hub that brings MedTech and Innovative Medicine expertise together. With advanced digital infrastructure, flexible collaboration spaces, and the Johnson & Johnson Institute, a state of the art training facility for health professionals, MPark will enable our teams to work alongside clinicians and partners to solve real-world health challenges with greater speed and impact,” Najdek said.

Designed by Danish architecture firm 3XN, the headquarters is underpinned by future-ready and wellbeing-led design principles, featuring flexible, activity-based environments that empower teams to choose how and where they work.

Employees can access a range of facilities including a dedicated staff gym, “fresh & go” convenience store, meditation and wellness spaces, and inclusive amenities, reflecting Johnson & Johnson’s enduring commitment to employee health and wellbeing.

The company marked the opening with a morning tea and official ribbon-cutting ceremony. In line with its strong social impact ethos, Johnson & Johnson also donated $25,000 to The Northern Centre, a local Macquarie-based charity, using proceeds raised from a staff auction of equipment and furniture from its former offices.

Located at 17 Khartoum Road, the headquarters has been designed to achieve net-zero carbon operations. It incorporates fully electric systems, energy-efficient technologies and on-site rainwater collection. The MPark precinct is targeting a 5.5 Star NABERS Energy rating and has been developed to meet leading global standards in sustainable design, circularity and environmental performance.

Located at 17 Khartoum Road, the headquarters is designed for net-zero operations, in line with MPark precinct’s targeted 5.5 Star NABERS Energy rating.
