French Ambassador officiates opening of Sanofi’s Barangaroo headquarters

Sanofi has officially opened the doors to its new headquarters at International Towers, Barangaroo, marking the milestone with a ceremony led by His Excellency Pierre-André Imbert, Ambassador of France to Australia, and a Welcome to Country from Uncle Michael West of the Metropolitan Aboriginal Land Council.

The move places the company among a growing cohort of pharmaceutical organisations investing in modern, collaborative workspaces in Sydney’s CBD.

True to Sanofi tradition, the occasion was marked with a distinctive flourish: the Ambassador and company leaders cut a purple ceremonial ribbon, held by Sanofi graduates Sean Mangion and Anjalina Alagendran.

“This is our meeting place. And by ‘our’ I mean yours. The invitation remains open, always. Sanofi Barangaroo is a place for connection, collaboration and action. We’re determined to be more than just another corporate tenant in Barangaroo – we are a genuine contributing neighbour in this community,” said Liz Selby, Country Lead and Head of Pharma Australia & New Zealand.

The opening drew a broad cross-section of stakeholders, including patient organisations, health industry leaders, government officials, academia, customers, suppliers, and employees—many of whom are now settling into the company’s new harbour-side base.

Mike Zhang, General Manager Vaccines for Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, highlighted the region’s strategic importance within Sanofi’s global agenda.

“Australia and New Zealand are not on the edge of the world map – they are central to our global ambition. Through our Translational Science Hub in Queensland, AI partnerships in South Australia, acquisitions like ViceBio, and nationwide clinical studies and support Sanofi is deepening collaboration with leading local healthcare systems and research institutions. Sanofians who our Barangaroo office home deliver for people, everywhere.”

Reflecting on the journey to the opening, Yogita Nath, Chief Financial Officer for Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, said “A year ago, this was a vision. Six months ago, a floor plan. Today, it’s our reality and the purple ribbon has been cut. Our beautiful office is a reflection of Global Sanofi’s deep and enduring investment in Australia and a statement of trust in this team, in this country, and in what we can achieve together.”

The event also carried a broader message of social responsibility. As a visible sign of community commitment, Selby announced she has once again signed up for the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, reinforcing Sanofi’s focus on addressing health inequities among Australia’s most vulnerable populations.
