Boehringer to relocate headquarters within NSW’s second-largest economy

Health Industry Hub | September 25, 2026 |

Boehringer Ingelheim will relocate its Australia and New Zealand headquarters to MPark later this year, maintaining the company’s long-standing presence at the centre of one of NSW’s major health, science and innovation precincts.

The move will keep Boehringer Ingelheim’s ANZ operations in Macquarie Park, where the company has been based for decades, while establishing a new workplace designed around how its people connect, collaborate and innovate.

Ed Hollywood, General Manager Australia and New Zealand, said the decision reflected the company’s commitment to both the precinct and the future of its organisation.

“This is much more than a change of address. It is an investment in our people, our culture and what we want to achieve together in the years ahead,” Hollywood said. “Work has changed, but the value of bringing people together has not. Some of our best thinking happens when people from different teams and areas of expertise connect, challenge one another and solve problems together. Our new headquarters has been designed to create more of those opportunities.”

Boehringer Ingelheim’s decision comes as Macquarie Park continues to play a significant role in the NSW economy. Jerome Laxale MP, Member for Bennelong, has emphasised the strategic importance of the location, noting that Macquarie Park is the second largest economy in NSW and the eighth largest in Australia. The precinct generates more than $13.6 billion in annual economic output.

Located at 15 Khartoum Road, the new MPark workplace will bring Boehringer Ingelheim’s organisation together on a single floor, with dedicated environments for collaboration, training, focused work and informal connection. The workplace design has been shaped by workplace data, employee feedback and the changing ways teams work together, reflecting the company’s approach to combining flexibility with regular face-to-face interaction.

“Our people value the flexibility we offer, which combines the opportunity to work remotely with regular in-person connection and collaboration. Our teams spend three days a week together in the office, creating opportunities to learn from one another, build relationships and solve problems together,” Hollywood said.

The company assessed several locations before selecting MPark, weighing the needs of its workforce against the organisation’s future direction.

“Macquarie Park has been part of the Boehringer Ingelheim story in Australia for decades. It is where many important relationships have been built and where generations of our people have worked together to improve human and animal health,” Hollywood said.

“Choosing to remain in Macquarie Park allows us to build on decades of connection to one of Australia’s leading health, science and innovation precincts while creating a workplace that reflects where we are going next,” Hollywood added. “It was also the clear preference of our people, who told us during the consultation process that remaining in Macquarie Park mattered to them. Together, those factors reinforce our confidence in the future of our business and our commitment to continuing to contribute to Australia and New Zealand over the long term.”

Employees are expected to transition to the new headquarters before Christmas.
