‘Science and sport aren’t that different’, says Sanofi GM of Vaccines
ESG: Like Olympians and Paralympians, Sanofi employees embrace a commitment to “be better, go further, and to never, ever settle” as they chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives.
As a Premium Partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Sanofi is celebrating this partnership with a range of unique initiatives. These include a Volunteer program involving 2,024 Sanofi employees from 54 countries who are supporting the Paris 2024 Games. This cohort is the largest and most diverse within the 45,000-strong volunteer community, representing a broad spectrum of genders, ages, ethnicities, and management levels.
Australia’s delegation features three team members volunteering at the Olympics and one at the Paralympics.
Mike Zhang, General Manager of Vaccines for Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, remarked “Science and sport aren’t that different. Just like athletes do, we overcome setbacks to keep moving forward, not just for ourselves, but for our patients, colleagues, families, and friends.
“Wearing the volunteer uniform and being a part of the Paris 2024 Games is a huge honour and something I have been preparing for over the past year. It’s a unique chance to see people chasing success in their sporting pursuits, while standing alongside other Sanofi volunteers who chase the miracles of science every day.”
Fuki Kurimoto, Regulatory Affairs Project Manager and Paralympics volunteer, expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m honoured to join Paris 2024 as a volunteer where for the first time in history, the Olympic and Paralympic Games will see gender parity, with an equal number of men and women competing.”
In addition to its volunteer program, Sanofi will host the “metal horse” from the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games.
Paul Hudson, Chief Executive Officer of Sanofi, commented “The values of excellence, technical and scientific innovation, and openness to the world that this iron horse embodies are perfectly aligned with the values promoted by Sanofi as part of its partnership. We are proud to contribute to the legacy of Paris 2024 by enabling this work of art to shine after the Games.”
The company will first exhibit the horse at La Maison Sanofi (head office), then donate the horse to a museum, enabling as many people as possible to discover this work of art.
