Sanofi recognised as leader in workplace gender equality ahead of International Women’s Day

Pharma News: Sanofi has been officially recognised by the Australian Government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency as Employer of Choice for Gender Equality. The accreditation is another proud step within Sanofi’s broad inclusion and diversity agenda.
Sanofi’s Country Lead for Australia and New Zealand, Karen Hood, said gender balance has been a focus for Sanofi for some time and the process of accreditation was an important part of that ongoing journey.
“As a healthcare leader we know how crucial it is that we foster a safe and equal workplace with equal power, resources and opportunities for our employees,” Karen said.
“Inclusivity and equality mean our people can give their best and ultimately deliver better outcomes for our patients and customers.”
Sanofi has been proud, over recent years, to stand at the forefront of programs that break down unintended gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic, or accessibility bias. The business is also moving ahead with important work related to cultural and indigenous inclusion.
“I’m proud to lead a team of people who, in the face of today’s challenges, continually show that our inclusion and diversity commitment is resolute,” she said.
In 2020, Sanofi Australia and New Zealand launched its Gender Equity Plan that outlined six key areas to create equal opportunities.
“Our plan recognises the impact of gender inequality is regularly compounded by other forms of disadvantage and discrimination. Important initiatives such as our no labels parental policy, access to domestic violence leave and our award winning physical and mental wellbeing program all go towards challenging inequality in the workplace,” Karen said.
The prestigious Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation is designed to encourage, recognise and promote active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces. Organisations are reviewed against seven focus areas ranging from leadership and strategy to driving change beyond the workplace.
This year the Agency is welcoming 17 new EOCGE citation holders who are joining the existing 119 citation holders from 2019-20.
“I hope Sanofi Australia’s WGEA accreditation will inspire our team to further embrace this year’s global International Women’s Day theme: Choose to Challenge,” Karen said.
Sanofi Australia has also recently received accreditation as a TOP employer, ranking as one of Australia’s best workplaces for dads, and awarded for having the Best Wellbeing Team and Best Wellbeing Strategy.
