Organon ANZ founder and MD to depart for new opportunity
Pharma News: Organon ANZ has announced the departure of Managing Director Nirelle Tolstoshev, effective June 28, as she embarks on a new opportunity outside the organisation. This announcement follows the promotion of several ANZ founders to key APAC roles at the end of May.
Organon, the first major global pharmaceutical company dedicated to women’s health, was spun off from MSD and listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021, with Tolstoshev at the helm of the Australian team. Prior to leading Organon ANZ, Tolstoshev spent 21 years at MSD, starting as a medical representative in Adelaide and advancing through various sales, marketing, and business unit management roles.
“Nirelle is known for her passion, personal ‘People First’ approach in managing an incredibly dynamic team, as well as for her innovative thinking to support our founders and the business to grow,” said Andreas Daugaard Jørgensen, Managing Director, Asia Pacific.
Around 34% of CEO and Head of Organisation roles in the biopharmaceutical sector are held by women – and whilst women tend to be well represented in middle management, they seem to be passed over for more senior opportunities.
Tolstoshev has consistently demonstrated her commitment to fostering female talent and has empowered women through initiatives like the Franklin Women’s Members Connect Series.
“Nirelle has an incredible reputation as an authentic and highly skilled business leader with deep expertise in the healthcare environment. She is recognised as a champion for women in science. I am proud that Nirelle’s growth and experience at Organon has led to new opportunities for her, while she was building a strong foundation for the continued growth and impact of Organon in Australia and New Zealand,” Daugaard Jørgensen added.
Organon will commence the search for a new lead for its operations in Australia and New Zealand.
