Medicines Australia appoints new Deputy Chair – AZ’s Country President

Pharma News: Medicines Australia Chair, Dr Anna Lavelle, is pleased to announce the appointment of Liz Chatwin, Country President, AstraZeneca Australia and New Zealand as Deputy Chair of the Medicines Australia Board.
Ms Chatwin, successor to Pfizer’s Melissa McGregor, will join Dr Lavelle in this important leadership position until October 2022, when there will be a general election of the Board.
“Liz has a deep understanding of issues important to member companies and brings continuity from the previous board,” said Dr Lavelle.
“Liz has served AstraZeneca for many years and built an extraordinary career with extensive global experience in Europe and South East Asia including as Company President in Korea prior to returning to Australia in October 2017. I am confident that we will work in harmony and to great effect.”
These sentiments were echoed by Medicines Australia CEO, Ms Elizabeth de Somer: “Liz has been a member of the Board since September 2018. Her deep understanding of the Australian environment and commitment to building a strong, patient-centric health care system will be instrumental in ensuring the development of sound medicines policies for Australian patients.”
“Having Liz in the position of Deputy Chair will build on what has been a very successful and stable period for the Medicines Australia Board and I welcome the opportunity to work more closely with her,” said Ms de Somer.
