‘For our work to be meaningful, we must be all in on patient centricity’, says Pfizer MD
Pharma News: Pfizer is positioning patients at the heart of its business by launching the third iteration of its global event, Patients in Focus. The initiative celebrates the fulfilment and joy derived from empowering individuals to lead healthier lives.
This internal company event, extending over a week and encompassing local affiliate initiatives, sheds light on the significant impact every employee’s daily contributions, regardless of their role, have on Pfizer’s mission to prioritise patients in all aspects of its operations.
Anne Harris, Managing Director of Pfizer Australia & New Zealand, emphasised “Patients are at the centre of everything that we do. That is why we are hosting Patients in Focus, which reinforces our commitment to creating the best outcomes for patients worldwide. While the event is only a week-long, Pfizer’s commitment to patients is year-round.”
Aligned with Pfizer’s ambitious goal of positively impacting one billion lives annually, this year’s theme is ‘All in for All Patients.’ The theme underscores the necessity for unwavering dedication to patient-centricity, leaving no room for compromise in prioritising patients’ needs.
Ms Harris further stated, “For our work to be meaningful, we must be ‘all in’ on patient centricity. There really is no ‘halfway’ when it comes to putting patients first. Through innovation, collaboration, and drive, we will strive to be ‘all in’ to deliver the best health outcomes for patients.”
Highlighting the company’s commitment to patient-centricity, Pfizer emerged as the undisputed frontrunner in the 2022 PatientView survey of Pharma’s Corporate Reputation across ANZ. The survey drew insights from an extensive pool of 58 patient groups spanning the region and the evaluation criteria* encompassed ten key indicators that measure the industry’s commitment to patients.
The Patients in Focus week, steered by Pfizer’s Global Patient Advocacy Leaders, serves as an invaluable opportunity to gain direct insights from patients and Pfizer colleagues who themselves are patients. It also shines a spotlight on various patient-centric initiatives activated by Pfizer colleagues throughout the year.
Leigh Simmonds, Pfizer Senior Manager for Patient Advocacy, highlighted the significance of the week, stating, “Not everyone in our organisation has the same proximity to patients in their daily work, so we make sure that during Patients in Focus week we very deliberately listen and learn from the patient perspective.”
*These metrics, including patient centricity, patient information, patient safety, high-quality products, transparency, integrity, patient-group relationships, services beyond medications, involvement in research and development, and equitable access, formed the foundation for the survey’s rankings.
