BeiGene VP reveals the blueprint for bridging the access gap in the Asia-Pacific

Health Industry Hub | June 21, 2023 |

Pharma News: In a world where cancer diagnoses continue to rise, the Asia-Pacific region outside of Greater China has emerged as a major battleground against this formidable disease. Astonishingly, it now accounts for approximately a quarter of all new cancer cases worldwide. However, amidst this alarming statistic lies a disheartening reality – only a few patients in this vast and diverse region can afford or access the life-saving oncology therapies they desperately need.

Navigating the complex web of clinical, regulatory, and commercial challenges has become an arduous journey for emerging biotech and pharma companies aspiring to make a difference in the Asia-Pacific region. To bridge the gaps in access to innovative cancer treatments, a holistic strategy is imperative.

Adam Roach, VP and Head of Asia-Pacific, BeiGene, was a panellist at a session during the recent BIO International Convention and he joined Health Industry Hub to shed light on the formidable challenges in expanding access to treatment across this vast and heterogeneous region. He discussed BeiGene’s vision on health equity in the region despite the varying clinical practices, regulatory frameworks and commercial dynamics.

By delving deep into building a holistic approach to bridge the access gap in the Asia-Pacific, Adam highlighted the various levers that govern access to cancer treatment and discussed emerging methodologies that hold the potential to revolutionise access for patients in dire need.

In reimagining healthcare across the entire patient journey, Health Industry HubTM is the only one-stop-hub uniting the diversity of the Pharma, MedTech, Diagnostics & Biotech sectors to inspire meaningful change.
