ARCS CEO reveals critical gaps in workforce and capability in pharma, medtech and biotech sectors

Pharma News: Several workforce and capability gaps across the pharma, medtech and biotech sectors have been identified from a recent Summit.
Dr Shanny Dyer, CEO of ARCS Australia joined Health Industry Hub in discussing key insights from the Workforce & Capacity Summit and recommendations on how the key gaps in workforce skills shortages, manufacturing capability and professional standards in regulatory and clinical trials can be addressed.
Shanny also shared ARCS Australia’s plans to engage with the government on these issues from an advocacy and partnership perspective to drive the necessary changes.
She concluded “Working together with a common purpose, right across the [pharma, medtech and biotech] sector can produce some really innovative thinking. Ideas that have enabled better access for patients, particularly around telehealth and teletrials, have been a major boost for our sector.
“We can keep that momentum going and keep working together to see how we can improve health outcomes for patients as a primary focus. Then all the things that we’re doing around building the workforce, getting appropriate infrastructure in place, getting the STEM students knowledgeable about the sector, will be a providing a really great outcome for Australia – both from a health perspective and an economic perspective.”
