ARCS Australia announces new Board Directors and Life Members

Pharma News: ARCS Australia President and Chair of the Board George Papadopoulos announced the appointment of the three newly elected Directors to the ARCS Board; Arthur Brandwood, Orin Chisholm and Adele Hosseini.

“I congratulate and welcome the three new Directors to the Board. The new Directors are well qualified, professional and experienced to shape the future of the organisation, and I wish them great success, as I step down as President and hand over the baton to the President-Elect of the Board,
Andrew Carter.” said George Papadopoulos.

“It was outstanding to see the quality of the nominations for the Board Director positions and it’s a testament to the professionalism and integrity that ARCS commands in the sector, that we had such an enthusiastic response to the nomination process.”

Orin Chisholm is an experienced regulatory scientist with expertise in registering innovative medicines in oncology and women’s health across both large and small biopharmaceutical organisations. Orin is currently responsible for development and delivery of postgraduate education in pharmaceutical medicine and is also a regulatory affairs consultant and provides advice to clients on regulatory issues. Orin has been an active member of ARCS since she entered the industry in 2000 most notably in the successful CRITERIA program.

Adele Hosseini is a PhD pharmacist with over 17 years foundation in leadership, global clinical research, regulatory affairs and university lecturing, providing exposure across pharmaceuticals, clinical research organisation, medical devices and academia. She is currently the Chief Scientific Officer at Bod Australia. Adele has been an active ARCS member since 2002 contributing as a speaker and session chair at the ARCS annual conference and webinars.

Arthur Brandwood has been in the therapeutics industry for over 35 years and is Director and Principal Consultant at Brandwood CKC. Arthur is a long-standing member, and contributor through delivery of workshops and seminars, serving as conference session chair and speaker and advising ARCS leadership on policy development. Brandwood CKC is an ARCS partner.

“I would like to also take this opportunity to sincerely thank my fellow retiring board members Alex Leung (Hologic), the Chair of the Audit & Risk Management Committee and Company Secretary and Elizabeth (Liz) Joshi (Sandoz), Chair, Membership & Education Committee and acknowledge their immense contribution to ARCS over the past 5 years. It has been my privilege and pleasure to work with Alex and Liz, and together with all the current and past Directors, and again I thank them for their contributions to ARCS and the health sector over the last 5 years.” concluded George Papadopoulos.

At the AGM the Board also awarded ARCS Life Membership to past-President Mary Nteris and former Vice-President Kaylene O’Shea. Mary served for four years on the Board from December 2013, with the final two years as President from December 2015-17. Kaylene was an ARCS Board member from December 2014 until December 2019. She served on a range of committees and, most recently, was Vice-President until her retirement.

“I congratulate Kaylene and Mary on becoming ARCS Life Members. The announcement by the Board is acknowledgement and recognition of their considerable work for and contribution to ARCS and the sector,” added George Papadopoulos.

  • Mark Glover – Country Manager Australia and New Zealand at Medidata Solutions
  • Orin Chisholm – Associate Professor and Program Director, Pharmaceutical Medicine, UNSW
  • Rod Matthews – Business Masterclass and Business Breakthrough Training, Rod Matthews Pty Ltd
  • Sylvie Laroche – Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager, Viatris
