Amgen selects exclusive Australian partner for cutting-edge cancer research

Pharma News: A leading Australian cancer research centre has joined forces with renowned research institutions worldwide as part of the ‘Amgen Partner of Choice’ network.

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, as part of the ‘Amgen Partner of Choice’ network, is instrumental in fostering academic collaboration aimed at propelling new cancer treatment options, particularly targeting patients facing the most pressing unmet needs.

Professor Jayesh Desai, Associate Director of Clinical Research at Peter Mac, emphasised the calibre and depth of research at Peter Mac, expressing pride in being the exclusive Australian partner within this esteemed network.

The ‘Amgen Partner of Choice’ network is strategically designed to establish multiple global channels for collaboration, with the primary objective of accelerating the transition of innovative programs to clinical leaders. To facilitate this, the network will convene bi-annual scientific summits, enabling participants to delve into emerging oncology topics and provide valuable insights to enhance clinical trials, ultimately leading to improved outcomes for patients.

The inaugural scientific summit was held at Amgen’s headquarters in June, bringing together esteemed members of the Amgen Partners of Choice network for its official launch. During this two-day event, leaders from Amgen and network members engaged in fruitful discussions about priority projects and key focus areas, with a shared vision of making transformational programs accessible to patients. The network-wide scientific summit is scheduled to take place virtually later this year.

Presently, the projects within the Amgen Partners of Choice network are concentrated on specific disease areas and tumour types, notably thoracic, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary cancers. This strategic alignment underscores a concerted effort towards advancing cancer research and providing renewed hope for patients facing these challenging conditions.
