Roche partners in health tech to fulfil the promise of personalised healthcare

Health Industry Hub | June 23, 2021 |

Digital & Innovation: In considering the future of personalised healthcare, pharma companies are evolving to maintain a sustainable business model while meeting the broader stakeholder needs, including payers, patients and clinicians.

Angie Corbo, Informatics APAC Innovation Hub Lead and Informatics Global Innovation Strategic Theme Lead at Roche Pharmaceuticals spoke with Health Industry Hub regarding the company’s Innovation Hub, the diversity in the innovation ecosystem and the barriers to innovation across the Asia Pacific region. She also shared her valuable insights on the role of external partnerships and collaborations in strengthening Roche’s innovation pipeline locally and within the region.

“We bring human-centred design as the core in everything we do. What that does is bring in observation and emotion into how we understand our environment. That is how you really get to the pieces that can create value and impact in our society.

“Roche is really focussed on external collaborations. We want to put significant effort into co-creating, with the view that we are enabling the ecosystem,” said Ms Corbo.

“The biggest challenge is around interoperability. To be able to make decisions about where to invest energy or funds, whether it is a government or private organisation, you need to be able to make informed decisions. If all the information is so segregated right now, how can we make those decision strategically? The opportunity will come when the hospitals start getting connected and our patient records become our digital twin,” she added.

Clarum

In the interview, Ms Corbo refers to Clarum which harnesses the power of registries and real-world evidence through an intuitive digital solution that enables patient organisations to create and collect registries in a real-life settings both rapidly and securely. The Clarum digital solution is provided by Roche under a Royalty-Free License Agreement.
