CSIRO discussion paper on the ethics of AI
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to provide social, economic, and environmental benefits. For Australia to realise these benefits, it’s important for citizens to have trust in how AI is being designed, developed and used by business and government.
The CSIRO are seeking your views on a discussion paper to inform the Government’s approach to AI ethics in Australia. The discussion paper was developed by CSIRO’s Data61 and designed to encourage conversations about AI ethics in Australia.
The paper and your feedback will help the CSIRO ensure AI is developed and applied responsibly in Australia.
The Ethics Framework research was funded by the government in the 2018 May Budget. The work was guided by a steering committee of experts from industry, government and community organisations as well as researchers from CSIRO and Data61. Consultative workshops were also held in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth during 2018.
