Baxter launches digital resource for patients with chronic kidney disease
MedTech News: Baxter Healthcare (Baxter), a global leader in dialysis care, announced today the launch of a new online portal to support patients living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).
The new My Kidney Journey website launched in Australia is designed to inform patients of treatment options for Chronic Kidney Disease.
Centred on Shared Decision Making (SDM) between the patient, clinician and caregiver, the My Kidney Journey portal helps patients to assess treatment options that suit their physical, emotional and lifestyle needs.
The new website has been developed with balanced and up-to-date information on Home-based Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) and Haemodialysis (HD) treatments as well as In-centre dialysis care, kidney transplant and other treatment options.
My Kidney Journey also supports patients, families and caregivers with the emotional challenges of adjusting to life with CKD and the treatment journey.
Baxter Healthcare General Manager for Australia and New Zealand, Steven Flynn, said informed Shared Decision Making was helping patents to plan for a healthy and full life.
“There is no one-size fits all model for managing Chronic Kidney Disease,” Mr Flynn said.
“New innovation and clinical data from remote patient management technology are helping to create more personalised care based on the health and lifestyle needs of the patient.
“The launch of the new My Kidney Journey website delivers balanced and up-to-date information on dialysis care and other Chronic Kidney Disease treatments to help patients, families and caregivers to make informed shared decisions.
“Baxter Healthcare is committed to furthering our support for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease through continued innovation in modern PD (Peritoneal Dialysis) and home and in-centre Haemodialysis (HD) therapies and services.”
