Every day counts

Stephane Perrey, General Manager Australia, Japan & New Zealand of Cytiva congratulates the Translational Research Institute (TRI) in Brisbane on opening their new GMP clean room facility.
“Today, the whole world is focused on finding a solution to the global pandemic. Hope for a solution sits with the biotechnology industry including biopharmaceutical companies, diagnostic developers and academic researchers. Every day counts.
“Developing vaccines and therapies for emergency purposes is complex. It is too early to have all the answers but the opening of the new GMP clean room at the Translational Research Institute in Brisbane is good step forward. That is why we congratulate and support TRI in the announcement.
“Australia, with its developed economy, good governmental healthcare system, renowned academic research built on a powerful education, it is in the right position to help. We are seeing already a higher awareness of why Life Science needs to be a priority for Australia from a matter of national security and necessity for the public health and wellbeing.
“At Cytiva, we hope to facilitate further the huge potential in the biopharma industry as well as enable sustainable access to the latest biologic treatments. We want to support effort to improve the bioindustry ecosystem by working closely with academic researchers, biotech start-ups and established industries to build local capacity and the talent pool. This will allow more biological drug development as well as creating a sustainable local bio-economy, improving the trade balance of healthcare,” concludes Mr Perrey.
