Vantive’s GM sets strategic direction for new kidney care business

Health Industry Hub | February 28, 2025 |

The spinoff of Baxter’s kidney care business into Vantive has marked a pivotal shift in the renal healthcare landscape, positioning the newly formed company to drive greater innovation and patient-centred solutions.

Matthew Bain, General Manager of Vantive ANZ, outlined the company’s strategic direction and its role in addressing the pressing challenges facing patients with chronic kidney disease.

“This new organisation allows us to focus our investment and accelerate bringing new innovation to the kidney care space,” Bain said. “For us, that’s around delivering advanced services and being able to deliver a better patient experience.”

As World Kidney Day approaches on March 13, Bain reflected on Kidney Health Australia’s bold plan to End Dialysis by 2050 and whether this is truly achievable.

Equity in healthcare remains a key concern, with Bain acknowledging the disparities in access to dialysis centres and home dialysis for public and private patients.

Technology is also playing an increasingly vital role in Vantive’s strategy, with Bain detailing how AI and digital solutions are being leveraged to enhance patient monitoring and integrated care management.

Reflecting on his transition from Baxter to Vantive, Bain was asked what the title of a book about his journey would be. “The road less travelled,” he mused. “Maybe that is a good book [title] or analogy…”
