Stryker’s commitment to Veterans’ inclusion recognised through pledge
MedTech & Diagnostics News: The spirit of camaraderie and the echoes of valour resounded through the Australian War Memorial as the Stryker South Pacific Veteran’s Association (SSPVA) embarked on their third annual pilgrimage. This solemn sojourn offers our valiant veterans a rare opportunity to traverse the corridors of their memories, flanked by fellow warriors who have tasted the call of duty.
A moment of profound significance unfurled as the group proudly etched their names upon the ‘Soldier On Pledge,’ sealing Stryker’s status as a Platinum Pledge partner of Soldier On Australia. A partnership emblematic of unwavering support for veterans, this accord highlights Stryker’s commitment to fostering inclusivity through recruitment, and to weaving a safety net of transition opportunities for veterans entering the civilian realm.
In the heart of the nation’s capital, a distinguished array of Federal MPs welcomed the Stryker contingent. Among the figures were Assistant Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Matt Thistlethwaite, Matt Burnell MP and Keith Wolahan MP – co-chairs of the Federal Parliamentary Friends of Veterans, and the indefatigable Shadow Assistant Minister for Defence, Phillip Thompson OAM MP. The presence of veteran MP Luke Gosling MP OAM further solidified the fraternity that binds these dedicated souls.
Maurice Ben-Mayor, President of Stryker South Pacific, shared “The highlight of the trip was the visit to the Australian War Memorial, providing SSPVA members an opportunity to reflect on their time in the Defence Force and to remember family and friends who have served.”
James Doyle, Senior Director of Trauma, Foot & Ankle, Spine and Enabling Technologies, also a proud Executive Sponsor of the SSPVA, echoed the profound sentiment, “I was honoured to be part of this trip, and reaffirm how the SSPVA provides veterans with a culture in which their unique attributes will be appreciated and encouraged, and a new mission and purpose.”
Amidst reflections, Laura Padgham, Team Leader of Site Engineers at Stryker, shared her poignant journey from the realm of service to the uncharted territory of civilian life, encapsulating the essence of the transition that veterans undertake with resilience and tenacity.
As the pages of this annual chronicle unfurl, it is evident that the Stryker South Pacific Veteran’s Association has etched an indelible mark, not only through their pioneering medical solutions but also through their unswerving dedication to the men and women who have selflessly defended our nation’s honour.
