Queensland elevates diagnostic precision with cutting-edge imaging technology
MedTech & Diagnostics News: Mackay Base Hospital and Qscan Mackay have unveiled state-of-the-art medical imaging machines to elevate patient care through advanced technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
“As imaging becomes an ever-increasing essential tool in clinical practice, it is crucial for the prompt and accurate diagnosis of patients,” emphasised Ryan Hardy, CT Team Leader at Mackay Base Hospital. “The new generation MRI and CT will greatly improve the accuracy of screening for diseases, improve diagnostic quality, and enhance patient experiences.”
The Siemens 3T Magnetom Vida MRI machine stands at the forefront of medical imaging technology, featuring artificial intelligence capabilities aimed at accelerating and enhancing performance while boosting scan speed and resolution.
“This unique technology also features a patient entertainment system with multiple streaming services, offering a more comfortable experience for our patients,” added Matthew Agioritis, MRI Team Leader at Mackay Base Hospital.
In parallel, Mackay Base Hospital introduced the Siemens Somatom Force CT scanner, boasting precision imaging capabilities facilitated by dual-source technology and high temporal resolution for unparalleled diagnostic accuracy.
“These machines ensure new levels of image quality, improving clinical outcomes and ultimately, precision medicine,” remarked Mr Hardy.
Meanwhile, the Qscan Group has announced the inauguration of a cutting-edge MRI service at Qscan Mackay, marking a significant milestone in the provision of top-tier medical imaging services in the region. The brand-new GE HealthCare Signa Pioneer Air edition 3T MRI boasts state-of-the-art technology, offering innovative features to enhance patient comfort and streamline the imaging process.
“With the addition of this fully rebateable MRI service to the clinic, we are able to provide a more comprehensive offering of medical imaging studies, to diagnose and treat a wider range of conditions for regional patients and reduce the wait list of a booming area,” explained David Watts, Regional Manager of Qscan Group.
The technology’s wide bore design not only reduces the sense of confinement for patients but also shortens exam times, thanks to faster scans that eliminate the need for prolonged breath holds during imaging sequences.
Additionally, the 3T MRI’s whole-body imaging capability enables scanning of multiple organs, while its reduced power consumption and smaller footprint contribute to its environmental friendliness. Moreover, Additionally, the new technology is twice as powerful, generating higher-quality images and further elevating diagnostic precision and patient care standards in the Mackay region in Queensland.
