Global diagnostics and genomics leader invests in LifeStrands Australia

The parent company of LifeStrands Australia, Pathology Asia Holdings (PAH), and Mayo Clinic Laboratories have announced a strategic investment and collaboration to expand access to advanced diagnostics, genomic testing and precision medicine across Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia. The companies did not disclose the value of the investment, the ownership stake acquired or other financial terms of the transaction.
Founded and led by Dr Christopher Ting, PAH operates laboratories across Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines through brands including Innoquest, Singapore Diagnostics, TissuPath and Safework Health. Its LifeStrands business comprises three specialist laboratories, including LifeStrands Genomics Singapore, LifeStrands Genomics Australia and DNA Laboratories, providing testing across oncology, reproductive health, inherited disorders and wellness.
The collaboration places genomics at its centre, with Mayo Clinic Laboratories and LifeStrands Genomics set to work together to broaden access to advanced molecular and genomic testing across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
“I am very proud to announce a significant milestone for LifeStrands Genomics Australia,” said Dr Vivek Rathi, CEO and Medical Director of the company. “We look forward to this next chapter and to working together to broaden access to advanced genomic testing and precision medicine across the region.”
The expanded testing capabilities will support a range of clinical applications, including the identification of genetic conditions, disease-risk assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning. The companies said the collaboration is intended to help healthcare providers incorporate clinically relevant genomic insights into more personalised patient care.
The agreement also strengthens the broader relationship between Mayo Clinic Laboratories and PAH. Dr William Morice, President and CEO of Mayo Clinic Laboratories, has been appointed Scientific Adviser to PAH.
“Healthcare providers across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand are increasingly seeking advanced diagnostic solutions to guide patient care,” said Dr Morice. “Our collaboration with PAH and LifeStrands Genomics reflects our commitment to a long-term strategic relationship that unites complementary strengths in laboratory diagnostics and genomics. Through this collaboration, we are bringing advanced diagnostic capabilities closer to patients and equipping healthcare providers with the insights needed to deliver personalised care.”
For PAH, the investment represents a further step in expanding its regional diagnostic capabilities and footprint.
“Mayo Clinic Laboratories’ investment marks an important milestone in our relationship and a strong foundation for the next phase of diagnostic innovation across the region,” said Dr Ting. “Combining Mayo Clinic Laboratories’ global clinical and scientific expertise with PAH’s regional diagnostic capabilities and network will enable us to broaden access to advanced testing and increase access to genomics and precision medicine capabilities across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.”
