Former APHA CEO joins day hospitals group amid strategic growth phase

Cura Day Hospitals Group has announced the appointment of Michael Roff, former CEO of the Australian Private Hospitals Association (APHA), to its Board of Directors, effective 29 May 2025.
This strategic move signals Cura’s commitment to robust corporate governance as it accelerates into a new growth phase under the ownership of global asset manager ICG. The recent acquisition of PresMed Holdings, seven day hospitals spanning NSW, ACT, and Tasmania, cements Cura’s standing as a leading national provider of day and short-stay hospital care, with a network of 36 hospitals across Australia.
Roff brings more than three decades of experience in the private hospital sector, with an extensive background in health policy development and advocacy. He joined APHA in 1994 as Public Affairs Manager before being appointed CEO in 2000. Over his 24-year leadership tenure, Roff championed the interests of the private hospital sector, working closely with nine Federal Health Ministers and eight Prime Ministers.
“Michael’s experience and insight will be instrumental in raising Cura’s profile as we continue to navigate a dynamic operating environment and deliver long-term value for our shareholders,” said Chairman of the Board, Dr Keith Zabell.
Roff said he looked forward to playing a role in shaping the future of Australia’s leading day hospital group.
“Cura Day Hospitals Group has a strong foundation and an exciting path ahead, and I am eager to support its continued success,” he said.
Currently, Roff also serves as a Board Director for The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) and as Board Director and Chair of ACHS International (ACHSI).
