Everlight Radiology acquired as teleradiology expansion accelerates

Everlight Radiology has been acquired by Radiology Partners (RP), marking a significant new phase in the company’s strategic growth as it expands its position as a technology-enabled global teleradiology platform.

The acquisition comes as healthcare systems face mounting pressure from rapidly increasing demand for diagnostic imaging, with the volume of CT, MRI and X-ray examinations continuing to outpace growth in the radiologist workforce needed to interpret them.

Radiologists are involved in approximately 80% of patient episodes, spanning care from emergency departments through to routine and elective services. Radiology is undergoing transformation, with workforce constraints, rising workloads and growing demand placing increasing pressure on health systems and clinicians.

Everlight Radiology has confirmed that its day-to-day operations will continue unchanged across all markets. The company will remain headquartered in Sydney and London, with no changes to its management team, strategy, values, operational staff or radiologist network.

The acquisition comes amid significant concern among radiologists about the sustainability of the current workforce model. In the latest Everlight Radiology report, based on responses from 700 radiologists, 53% identified radiologist burnout as their most pressing challenge. Workforce shortages followed at 49%, while 40% cited brain drain, the exodus of locally trained clinicians, as a key concern.

The findings also spotlight the growing role of teleradiology in addressing these pressures. An overwhelming 98% of radiologists surveyed recognised the benefits of teleradiology, with 73% identifying its ability to help in-house teams clear imaging backlogs as one of its most valuable strengths. A further 72% highlighted its potential to reduce workload pressures.

For radiologists, teleradiology was also widely recognised as offering greater flexibility and broader career opportunities. Seventy-one per cent cited increased flexibility in working hours, while 60% valued the ability to work from different locations. Almost half (48%) highlighted the opportunity to report from overseas while continuing to support domestic hospitals and patients.

Those trends reinforce the strategic rationale behind the acquisition, as health systems increasingly seek technology-enabled models capable of extending specialist capacity without being constrained by geography.
