Former Pfizer executive takes the reins at Chiesi ANZ in strategic leadership move

Leadership & Management: Chiesi has appointed Melissa McGregor as the new General Manager for Australia and New Zealand.

McGregor brings over 30 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical and life sciences industries, where she excelled in partnering with healthcare professionals, health consumer groups, government, and industry bodies to enhance patient health outcomes.

She transitions to Chiesi from her role at Pfizer, where she served as Vice President of the European Hospital Business. Previously, she led Pfizer ANZ for four years.

McGregor is recognised for her strong advocacy of gender equity and is a co-founder of the Pharma Australia Inclusion Group (PAIG), a special interest group of Medicines Australia.

She has expressed her commitment to this cause, stating, “Gender equity is about creating an environment where both men and women are equally valued and rewarded. It’s about shaping the workplace to bring out the best in all people. We’re continuing to move from ‘good to great,’ and redefining our benchmarks in the process.”

Her extensive experience as a senior executive includes strategic and operational roles across Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Her governance expertise is notable, having served as Deputy Chair and Director of Medicines Australia, Director of Medicines New Zealand, Director of the Cancer Drugs Alliance, and Director of the American Chamber of Commerce New Zealand. She also held executive director roles at Pfizer in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
