B. Braun appoints new country leader in an internal promotion

Health Industry Hub | July 3, 2024 |

Leadership & Management: Following the promotion of current leader, Christian Gabriel, to Managing Director of B. Braun Switzerland, B. Braun Australia has announced the appointment of Geoff Brown as its new Managing Director.

Brown, who joined B. Braun in 2010, has held several commercial and leadership roles during his tenure with the company. B. Braun, a family-owned medtech company, employs 63,000 people globally.

“His extensive experience, empathetic leadership, and deep understanding of our business are invaluable assets that will drive B. Braun Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands to success in the future,” the company stated.

The company expressed its gratitude for Gabriel’s contributions, saying, “We are ever grateful for Christian’s hard work, dedication, and most importantly, his friendly face as he led us through some extraordinary circumstances over the last six years. His contribution and commitment have been integral to our success.”

Earlier this year, B. Braun was recognised with the IV Product Innovation of the Year at the Healthcare Asia Medtech Awards for its Introcan Safety 2 IV Catheter. This peripheral intravenous catheter features passive needlestick prevention and a multi-access blood control septum, designed for blood sampling, blood pressure monitoring, and administering fluids and blood intravascularly. It is also indicated for subcutaneous infusion therapies.

Globally, B. Braun’s orthobiologics business was acquired by Octane Medical Group in June. The orthobiologics platform includes two regenerative medicines: Novocart 3D, which involves implanting a collagen-based matrix scaffold seeded with cartilage cells into defective areas, and Novocart Inject, an injectable mixture of cartilage cells and PEG-albumin-hyaluronic acid hydrogel.
