Takeda launches industry-academia incubation program to drive innovation

Health Industry Hub | June 10, 2022 |

Digital & Innovation: Accelerators and incubators are essential for helping new startups take flight. New healthcare entrepreneurs looking to translate their medical research don’t have the experience or connections to make that happen on their own.

Takeda is inviting Australian start-up companies, academia, institution and innovators to submit research proposals for commercially viable healthcare solutions in neurological and neuromuscular disorders areas.

The Research Incubation Program is a new grant call launched by Takeda and Shonan Health Innovation Park in Japan aiming to create new opportunities for industry-academia collaboration by matching innovative ideas held by researchers in Australia with research issues held by pharmaceutical companies in Japan.

Successful candidates will receive research funding of up to $115,000 per year for 3 years, mentoring and coaching from Takeda experts, and have access to incubation space at iPark near Tokyo for up to 3 years.

The mentoring support will include scientific advice on refining research plans and implementation, support for preparation of presentations for final selection, and sharing of know-how and introduction of internal networks to implement the research plans.

The applications period is open from 1 June – 31 July 31, 2022 and awardees will be announced in December 2022.
