AusBiotech and J&J awards to celebrate greatest sector contribution to pandemic

Biotech News: Nominations for the 2020 AusBiotech and Johnson & Johnson Innovation Industry Excellence Awards are open, and will recognise and celebrate life science leaders who are championing the sector and the Australian community through the worst pandemic and greatest collaboration seen in the sector.

These prestigious Awards recognise the leading lights of Australia’s world-class biotechnology, medical technology and healthcare sectors and will celebrate those who have played a critical role guiding and inspiring us locally, and shining a light on Australia globally as a leader in the response to COVID-19.

Behind these critical and timely responses are people and companies that inspire their workforce, their State, and their nation. The responses witnessed has been a truly remarkable illumination of the importance of our sector to the health, well-being and economic security of all Australians within a very difficult year.

The AusBiotech and Johnson & Johnson Innovation Industry Excellence Awards will recognise the unsung heroes in white and blue coats who are making meaningful contributions to, or whose achievements or response has significantly impacted patient improvements, Australian public health, or the Australian biotechnology industry.

Nominations for the awards are open until Wednesday 30 September 2020 in four new categories:

  1. COVID-19 Life Science Sector Innovation Award – companies, universities, research institutes, industry associations and government organisations working to accelerate novel technologies and treatments for the management of COVID-19;
  2. COVID-19 Life Science Sector Collaboration Award – companies, universities, research institutes, industry associations and government organisations collaborating to deliver a product or service for the management of COVID-19;
  3. COVID-19 Communication Leaders Award – Key opinion leaders who have been called upon to communicate complex scientific information to the Australian public including about the importance of public health measures.
  4. Industry’s Choice Award – AusBiotech members can vote for their choice of shortlisted nominees across these three categories which they believe have had the greatest impact promoting Australia’s biotech sector internationally.

Finalists and their stories will be featured in the lead up to AusBiotech + Invest 2020 and awardees will be announced on Thursday 29 October 2020 during AusBiotech + Invest 2020.
