Pharma News: UCB Australia has been recognised as an Employer of Choice in The Australian Business Awards (ABA) 2021.

In their 16th year, the awards are an annual all-encompassing awards program that recognises organisations that demonstrate the core values of business innovation, product innovation, technological achievement and employee engagement via a set of established business and product award categories.

The Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice (EOC) recognises organisations that develop leading workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce through established policies and practices that demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.

Anna Argypoulos, Interim Country Lead at UCB Australia said the award provides recognition of the organisation’s focus on its purpose of creating value for patients, which sets the tone of the culture, working environment and how people are developed.

UCB’s ambition globally is to create value for patients with severe diseases in neurology and immunology. This means a commitment to people living with these diseases, their caregivers and their families to help them live their best lives.

“We are very proud to support an environment and culture which empowers an amazing group of people who work and thrive to meet this commitment to patients,” said Ms Argypoulos. “This focus on people is core to our sustainability as a business. We endeavour to foster a working environment where people are happy, healthy, safe and able to thrive through a meaningful job.

“The UCB Australian Leadership Team is delighted to receive the Employer of Choice Award 2021.”

Ms Tara Johnston, Program Director, Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice said the COVID-19 pandemic has presented one of the most significant business challenges ever faced by employers across Australia.

“It created a critical need for leading organisations to adapt to new working environments and adopt new approaches to employee engagement whilst navigating the technical and operational constraints imposed by the lockdown,” said Ms Johnston.

“Fifty-six organisations have been selected in this year’s ABA Employer of Choice Awards. Many of these organisations have demonstrated new ways of working and learning, refining workplaces and careers with new systems to improve employee experience and efficiency.

“As the world changes, these organisations have implemented new business tools, practices, and policies to facilitate productivity beyond the physical office, presenting unique opportunities to grow personally and professionally.”

Participation is open to all private and public companies, multinationals and their subsidiaries, non-government organisations, educational institutions, government departments, government agencies, government authorities and statutory bodies operating in Australia.

Participants must demonstrate their achievements across the key areas of Organisational Culture & Leadership; Education, Training & Development; Health, Safety & Satisfaction; Performance, Recognition & Remuneration.

Entries are assessed utilising a robust and dynamic framework to ensure that the assessment process is pertinent and objective. The Employer of Choice Framework (EOC Framework) is utilised as a structured model of assessment that enables the participating organisations to be benchmarked against world-class performance standards.

The EOC Framework consists of specialised assessment modules pertaining to the award category. Entries in this category are evaluated utilising the EOC Assessment module. The EOC Assessment module provides a robust set of requirements used as the methodology for benchmarking and knowledge building among the participating organisations.
