Janssen, UCB and Novartis support launch of new hub for psoriatic arthritis patients

Health Industry Hub | September 3, 2021 |

Pharma News: Australians living with psoriatic arthritis can now become active and informed participants in their disease journey through a new online hub, developed by Arthritis Australia and supported by Janssen, UCB and Novartis.

“MyPsA is a vital tool for helping those living with psoriatic arthritis to get a greater depth of knowledge on how to manage this complex condition,” said Arthritis Australia CEO Jonathan Smithers.

Those engaging with the MyPsA hub, will be able to build individually tailored profiles, access customised information about their condition, and link with relevant support services.

“Along with consulting regularly with their rheumatologist, people with psoriatic arthritis should also have easy access to reputable sources of information so they can learn more about their condition, and MyPsA can offer them just that,” said Professor Susanna Proudman, a rheumatologist and Medical Director of Arthritis Australia.

Janssen ANZ’s company spokesperson told Health Industry Hub “As part of our ongoing commitment to patients, we are proud to support the launch of MyPsA portal, a new patient resource that will assist the many Australians living with psoriatic arthritis, a complex and life-long condition that can be very distressing and debilitating at times. Access to simple, informative and centralised information is vital to support and empower patients to seek the medical knowledge and attention they deserve.”

A spokesperson from UCB Australia said the organisation is committed to supporting patients living with chronic inflammatory conditions and is proud to be supporting the new online MyPsA patient hub.

“The MyPsA hub will provide those living with psoriatic arthritis access to valuable patient resources and support to help empower them to better manage their condition and in discussions with their healthcare providers. This is a great initiative from Arthritis Australia which adds to the previously launched MyRA patient hub, supporting people with rheumatoid arthritis.”

A Novartis spokesperson told Health Industry Hub “In Australia there are more than 200,000 people living with psoriatic arthritis, an autoimmune condition that causes pain and swelling in the joints and can affect people irrespective of their age. Novartis Australia is a proud supporter of the MyPsA online hub which is going to be a valuable resource for people living with psoriatic arthritis and/or those that care for someone with psoriatic arthritis.”

MyPsA visitors will also be able to link with support programs offered across the country through state and territory arthritis organisations.

MyPsA offers information about the psoriatic arthritis, as well as a range of links for treatment options and ways to improve the management of the condition. It will provide tips about lifestyle changes that can make living with psoriatic arthritis more manageable.

“We want every Australian living with psoriatic arthritis to have access to up-to-date news, information, and treatment options regardless of where they are on their journey or where they live around the country,” said Mr Smithers.
