Top trends shifting the future of the medtech sector – Cardinal Health global leader
MedTech News: The medtech sector has experienced significant market transformation precipitated by the ongoing structural changes within healthcare, the evolution of technological innovations and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an interview with Health Industry Hub, Ben Brinker, President of International Medical Products and Distribution at Cardinal Health, discussed the significant acceleration in innovation and adoption of patient‐centred digital technologies to make products smarter and better connected. He shared Cardinal Health’s strategy in bridging the gap between physical and digital care and how medtech companies can leverage the real‐world data from digital technologies to enhance the value they deliver to patients, clinicians and payers.
Ben also reflected on the top trends of innovation, industry collaboration and diversity, equity and inclusion that are shifting the future of the medtech sector. He discussed Cardinal Health’s strategy in aligning the business with these trends to thrive in the complex healthcare ecosystem.
On the first trend, he said “Innovation. I don’t think it’s innovation as it relates to being a standalone company. If you think through the opportunity that value based healthcare can provide, our ability to address the holistic solution to solve the patient problem is a trend that is catching some tailwind right now. It’s going be really interesting to see how companies figure out how they fit within this patient journey because it spans across numerous stakeholders.”
